About

Hi! I'm Elayna
I'm a proud mom of two amazing boys, and they're at the heart of everything I do. My mission? To create a kinder world for them to grow up in - and for all of us to thrive in.
My upbringing was a unique one. I was raised in a household where health and sustainability were top priorities. Those early experiences shaped my deep passion for nurturing our well-being and preserving the planet we call home. It will always be a journey and it’s important to remember that. I understand this journey can seem overwhelming, I still get overwhelmed, but it’s important to take a deep breath and know you’re doing your best at this moment. Just you being here is taking a big step for not only your health & your families, but for the environments.

It wasn't until my husband and I were stationed in Okinawa, Japan, that the urgency of sustainability truly hit home. Standing on beautiful beaches marred by waves of plastic debris, I couldn't ignore the reality of our impact on the environment. By witnessing firsthand the devastating consequences of plastic pollution, I knew I had to take action.
I remember someone taking us to this amazing beach when my brother visited. The water was so clear and the reefs were incredible. I had a friend visit a couple months after and I wanted to take her back to that exact beach. When we got there and trekked all the way down to the beach my heart sank. The entire beach was covered in trash - everything from plastic gasoline jugs, to shoes, to bottles, to buckets - completely covered. Our first thoughts were that someone had just dumped it all and we couldn’t believe why someone would do that. I left thinking how I could help and I let the local beach cleanup know about the spot. However, I quickly realized it wasn’t people who were dumping the trash on the beach, but rather the plastic was coming from the ocean.
There was a beach just a couple minutes from our apartment and I started walking there every morning and would pick up trash - mostly tiny little pieces of plastic. It was a small gesture, but one that spoke volumes. I saw the aftermath of storms washing up even more plastic, and it became clear: this wasn't just about individual littering - it was a systemic issue, with plastic flowing back into the ocean no matter how many times I diligently sorted it into the recycling bins. I even saw a hermit crab one time using a toothpaste lid for its shell.
That realization was a turning point. I knew I had to do more, not just for my own family, but for the world at large. Through this blog, I invite you to join me on this adventure.
Together, let's explore practical ways to tread lightly on the Earth while nurturing our own well-being.
Thank you for being part of this journey towards a kinder, more sustainable future.
